Dr. Evangelos G. TsimopoulosPostdoctoral Researcher
Evangelos holds a PhD from the Department of Chemical Engineering in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He also holds an MSc in Applied Economics and Finance from the Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece, an MSc in Flow Assurance for Oil and Gas Production from Cranfield University, United Kingdom, and a Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece. His research interests lie in the intersection of multiple fields including optimization, game theory and energy systems. More particularly, his is interested in the fields of strategic management of power generation portfolios, integration of renewable energy systems and energy storage systems in electricity markets, coupling of electricity and gas sector, power to gas storage systems, uncertainty and risk management, and optimization in operational planning problems.
Giorgos is a senior optimization engineer at Flexciton, London. He carries out research on: energy and process systems engineering, mathematical programming, supply chain operations, decision-making under uncertainty, operational research and management science. He mainly focuses on the development of optimization frameworks for solving real-world planning and scheduling problems in food, chemical and energy industries. Before joining Cranfield University, Giorgos was an Assistant Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at Nazarbayev University (Kazakhstan) and Lecturer at Cranfield University, UK.
