June 2020

Our new collaborative research project CATOPEC-IC has just started. This is a joint grant with Ceramic Industries of Norther Greece (KEBE S.A.) and ESTIA Consulting and Engineering S.A. The project is funded by the Greek General Secretariat of Science and Technology under the “Industrial materials” calls.

The main objective of the project is the development of mathematical models, optimization frameworks and computer-aided tools for energy consumption minimization in structural ceramics production industries.

February 2020

Prof. Georgiadis has been awarded a US Fulbright scholarship to visit (November 2019 – February 2020) the groups of: (i) Prof. Mantalaris in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology and (ii) Prof. Panoskaltsis in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. Research collaboration will focus on (i) the development and validation of of mathematical models for the optimization of Chemotherapy schedule in Leukemia patients and (ii) development of models for the optimization of CAR T-cells supply chains.

October 2019

Prof. Pei Liu and his group from Tsinghua University, China visited us on 24-25 October 2019. We had a very fruitful meeting with exchange of ideas, presentations between the two groups and a plan for future collaborations.

In the second day we visited the museums and archaeological sites of Pella and Vergina.
